Apartment complexes to avoid? (Sarasota, Bradenton: rental, tenants, upkeep)

I'm planning to move to Sarasota in late spring/early summer of next year. It doesn't look like I'll be able to make a scouting trip, so my first rental apartment will be a blind rental. I've done this before with positive results, and I'd like to get a repeat!

That said, do you know of any specific apartment complexes that I should avoid? I know they all have their own negatives, but I'm looking for anything overwhelmingly negative (i.e., dishonest people in the management office, terrible upkeep on the buildings, especially shady part of town, etc).

I'm not sure if the rules here prohibit calling out businesses like that - if that's the case, I'd welcome a direct message (and I promise not to tell! ).

your best bet is to check out apartment ratings' website. some of the reviews aren't dead on (angry tenants) but it's a good source of info.

Why don't you ask for recommendations of good ones? I could name you a few. However I am sure there are many many bad ones. Lived at a few myself in Bradenton.

I'm definitely interested in good ones as well - I just assume (perhaps overly optimistic?) that the good will far outweigh the bad.

If you value lif & limb, stay away from Mira Lagos Apartments, in Bradenton. It used to be called Manatee woods. I lived there once, & still know some who do now, it's a nightmare.
