Is Radon a problem with Florida homes? Will we need a radon test before we buy a house in Sarasota County? Thank you from Dorothy

Radon can be an issue in Florida but it is not a problem in our area. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't or can't have it tested but it's difficult to find anyone to do it--that might give you an idea of how rarely it is done. I can give you the name of an inspector if you want one.

A radon inspection is not typically done in this area of Florida. Here is a web site that has complete information on Radon and it may help answer any questions you have about it. Radon Exposure in Florida

I've never had anyone do a radon test, I'm not discouraging you from doing it. Just saying I've never heard of anyone doing it around here

I really think Radon is more of an issue in homes that have a basement, and I dont believe you will find any of those around here.
