If any of my fellow CD'ers are looking to get out on Friday night I'll be playing with my blues band at Calico Jacks in Englewood. We do mostly blues with a little Motown and early rock and roll. The show starts around 9:00 9:30pm. I've never been there but I get the impression it's not a fancy place

I'll buy a drink for any CD'er that show up and promise not to talk politics I'll be the guy beating the crap out of his guitar.

- Chet

I hope this bit of shameless self promotion is appropriate.

Haven't been to a CJ's in over 12 year's; brings back some fun memories of when I had firerfighters for housemates and we used to go there for the hotwings. Talk about putting out fires, tongues were flaming hot.

Would have loved to attend your gig; if ever you bring the band up around the Gulf Gate area of Sarasota, where there are some, what seems to have some interesting little bar clubs, I'm there. Hope all that make it to your upcoming jam, have a great time, sorry I have to miss out.

Nothing wrong with talking politics. At least maybe there unlike on this forum the conservative view would not be deleted. Big problem now is that there is a whole lot of quiet when it comes to what is wrong.

Jersey, we don't share many views but I like most everyone and try to respect others beliefs. You tend to see only part of people on the internet. You can get two people in a room who go at it like cats and dogs online but become fast friends when confronted with the actual human being in person. Come have a cold one on me!

its actually more interesting to talk politics when there are differing opinions. if everyone is on the same page whats there to talk about? what sucks is when we are censored here and it always seems to be the one on the conservative side, not just me. but then thats just what our current admininstration wants, no one to talk about it and only have one side presented.

There are plenty of good political forums around if that's your thing. It can be interesting and educational when there is a good mix of views. The trick is finding one where people aren't insulting and intelligent discourse happens. This forum obviously isn't the place for it although there has been some fair stuff said on both sides of the coin before they are shut down. I try to stay out of those threads but can't help myself sometimes In the meantime I'll enjoy the food threads and knowledgeable locals who help me learn about and enjoy my new home.

agreed, but very often the subjects are related. cant really talk about house price issues with out hitting on reasons why they are what they are. most discussions are civil. it is usually the one that has no credible thoughts or argument that throws out the insults.
