All I can say is, it's December 30th, sun is shining the birds are singing and my flowers are blooming. Tomorrow I'm going to the beach. It just really does not get any better than this. I just don't understand how anyone cannot love it here. Ya, summer is brutal but THIS is the payoff!

Oh and no snow to shovel either! That is the bonus prize!!

Lets see your post in the middle of August after the 103rd consecutive day of 90degrees plus with 65% humidity.

Enjoy Florida----it is an okay place-----just there are some times that a lot of us living here for a long time dont throw out the term paradise.

We moved in June 10th so yes we have experienced the summer. We unloaded a huge truck in the swealtering heat and humidity, I cut my own grass in the heat and humidity so it's not like I haven't felt "summer" here yet. My post said YES summer IS brutal. It is what it is. For us we would rather have that then the bitter cold, ice and bad roads. We didn't like the winters so we chose to move. Choice, it's all about choice. If at some point in my life it doesn't feel like paradise anymore then I'll move. Still all about choice.

Well, I've lived here my whole life and for me it IS paradise! I hate even a LITTLE bit cold, so I'll gladly trade a few months of too warm and sticky not to have that.

I hate you all...lol... well not really just jealous.

pfft, the humidity. I lived in SW Michigan and Fla is just the same but with better beaches and fishing.

This should be my last winter here in the Pacific NW. They are calling for snow tonight at the 3000 ft elevations. It has been a dry winter so far but the rain started just after Christmas and has not let up.

One of the things that bothers me is a segment of people who live in Florida and claim its paradise is when you talk to them futher you will find out that they bolt out of here in summer for cooler locations----therefore, it becomes a selective version of paradise.

I dont hate Florida----its ok-----I just no longer at my age find it paradise. A lot of native Floridians who reach retirement age leave for North Carolina, Tennessee, or other places------to each his own and enjoy your perceptions of what is or what isnt paradise.

I also find that the perception of paradise in Florida may have something to do where you live in Florida----we live in South Florida----with the traffic, congestion, and the difficulties related to congestion and overcrowding, its not as easy to define that as paradise as say perhaps living in less stressful areas on Floridas west coast.

We can't afford to snow bird so have no choice but to make the best of the summers. Those that can. really do have the best of both worlds. but we are happy and on those really hot days we go to the beach. For sure everyone's perception of paradise is different. For me, this is it!!

Dec 30th: Decided to use up the live shrimp from yesterday's fishing trip with pcozad. First cast off my dock, ladyfish (throwback). 2nd cast, redfish (keeper). 3rd cast, mangrove snapper (keeper). Then, about 5 minutes later, huge sheephead (keeper)! Guess what's for dinner tomorrow!

been here 13 months. after 50+ years of crappy cold damp winters this IS paradise. gone are the aches and pains, the colds the days of no sunlight. now we have sun -xmas eve on the beach, xmas day in the pool. lunch sitting outside today yada yada. also the sunrise and sunsets are awesome.

I for one would rather be too hot than too cold or wet..........
