its not that bad. like some posters mentioned some streets are kept up and others are borderline run down. i live right by 75 off fruiteville and its pretty pleasant. the tuttle area is a little closer to downtown but has some run down streets. do you want to rent or own? as a bike rider i peddle all over town and and really have gotten a decent feel for the area. in my oppinion south sarasota near the bay is nice, but the traffic is kinda slow at times. bee ridge and clark corridors are ok but kinda cookie cutter. fruiteville has some of the best access to downtown and the keys. and one more exit to the north is lakewood ranch and that cookie cutter, but newer, and seems very family oriented.

You can find similar comments about ANY area in any country.

Typical thread post : "Is XXXXXXXX really that bad?" - just replace XXXXXXXX with any city and there you go.

I was born and raised in South America, in a crime ridden area. Now i live in Toronto (Canada) and crime here is almost non existent, yet I have friends that can barely sleep as they fear for their lives daily. Browse other areas of this forum, and you will sure find similar threads about pretty much any major city in north America.
There will always be people that are afraid of opening their doors, while others live in the bad areas and walk alone at night.....and simply dont care.

In this case, 46 degrees in Wisconsin in early January practically requires irrational behavior involving convertibles, right???

I love Sarasota.

There's a fairly small section that isn't the best, most most of it is quite nice.

I was actually on the southwest side in a suburb where the schools had a "10" rating. I wouldn't send my kids to any "city" public school. As a rule suburbs are always better.
