The below link contains a map. It shows where the storm surge waters would inundate SouthWest Florida if it was hit by a Category 3 Hurricane (Katrina-like). The Gulf waters would rise about 9m for some time and then return to normal (0m) after it passes.

thats it im out of here. house is going up for sale. fact that there are some pretty old people around here and none have seen a hurricane doesnt enter into the decision.

actually i put in 3 meters and i am screwed.

While I'm not buying what the OP is selling, your old people must be getting senile! Hurricane Charley came through there just 8 years ago.

Just so you would know, even though Katrina was a Cat 3 it had the storm surge of a Cat 5. The MS Gulf coast received a storm surge of about 30ft. Katrina was a Cat 5 storm but dropped at the last minute how ever the storm surge didn't drop. Only the wind speeds did.

true, but that was not in englewood. the rumor has it we are safe because of the blessing of ancient indians.

It was however damaged by hurricanes in 1926, 1944 and 1950, 1960 and Charley in 2004.
