I just read this article last night and then remembered something about a home invasion there last year. Why do the occurrences appear to be increasing?

The reasons are pretty much the same as everywhere else:
poverty and low economic growth, social inequality, ineffective justice system, illegal drugs and alcohol, cut backs in law enforcement, and permissive childrearing to name a few. Typically during recessions statistics show an increase in crime rates. Lakewood Ranch is not the only area this is happening in.

No. There was no forced entry, this was not a random act.

If she drove into her garage while one was hiding in a bush and then that murderer rushed in before the garage door closed would also look like no forced entry.

We don't have the answers yet. Would it be safer to park on the driveway than into the garage. The garage conceals the murderous act.

With approx. 7700 single family homes and 500 condos on the ranch, it's not exactly a crime wave to have one incident last year and one this year but it is still disturbing, nonetheless. I recall another murder a few years ago but it was a family thing, I think. Heck, even remote areas of the country get an occasional major crime.

I don't believe someone would kill another because of poverty.it has to be something in their makeup and some people make up any excuse to excuse their poor behavior.

So what you are saying it could be genetic regardless of their upbringing.

There are a few things about the LWR murder that puzzle me. One, in a tv interview for channel 9 news (Bright House), neighbors said that the lady had a German Shepard mix breed dog that was devoted to her and always at her side. Very protective. Where was the dog at the time of the murder? Two, no forced entry. Three, her son was visiting but heard nothing? Strange.

I just looked at the link you offered. Do you know where Lakewood Ranch is? There is one little marker thing in LWR and nothing around it until you get into Bradenton and Sarasota which appear to be loaded with markers!

I don't know if you have an agenda or are geography-challenged but the whole premise of your post is completely opposite to the facts presented in the map I saw at your link. I appreciate the link, though.
