I'm looking for possible retirewment to the Venice area. I'm wondering about the Eastgate area. I'm looking for a modest area, quiet, and relatively safe. This looks like walking or at the least biking into "downtown". In fact it looks like an easy bike to beach.

Any opinions?

East Gate has different styles and sizes of homes. Most of them were built in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Here are some current listings in the area. Are you looking to buy a home or rent?

East Gate has a park with a playground, picnic shelter, tables, bike rack and drinking fountains. The residents hold an annual community picnic in the neighborhood park.

Venice Beach is also a short drive from East Gate and it is also close to shopping, restaurants, and schools.

I am not a real estate person, so here is my opinion on Eastgate.

First, Eastgate has a couple of different sections.

The small area of it, situated between the Pinebrook neighborhood to the north and Venice Ave to the south...is crappy. Lots of rentals and has never been known as a desirable area.

The section of Eastgate that would be most desirable is south of Venice Avenue, adjacent to the Edgewood neighborhood. This area of Eastgate is stable, well maintained, not very many rentals and just overall a quiet, safe community. You couldn't go wrong purchasing there.
