I am not sure where you are moving from, but I can tell you as a RN I am taking a 42% paycut to move from Maryland to Florida. But it is a choice that I have made. It will be tough in the beginning, but we will adjust.

Are you a certified Nurse Assistant or a Nurse Aide? You would need to transfer your license or certification to Florida. Here are some web sites to check out:

The Florida Center for Nursing (http://www.flcenterfornursing.org/faq/index.cfm - broken link)

Registry Overview - Florida Certified Nursing Assistants - Registry Overview

Here is a link to the Sarasota and surrounding area nursing homes. You would have to go to each individual web site and see if they have any openings. Some may list pay range.

I think that wage might be a bit high for a CNA in Florida. It is more likely in the $9 to $13 dollar range.

It depends on what type of setting (hospital, nursing home, outpatient center, private practice, etc....) They all have their different wages. I simply asked my wife who is a PTA and she threw those numbers out there as a "general" scale for CNA's. If you really want to make some decent money with only an associate's degree, become a PTA! Again, depending on the setting, anywhere from $20-35/hr.

I'm not up on all of the medical abbreviations. What is a PTA? Physical Therapy Assistant?
