Thai Food, The Bankok Restaurant. (Sarasota: house, restaurants, dinner)

Had dinner yesterday with a friend of mine who was born and raised in Sarasota and he turned me on to The Bankok House for Thai food and it was fantastic.

We split; a beef salad, Combination appetizer plate (wontons, spring rolls, crispy shrimp, Goong Tod), and Kenom Jeeb (dumpllings) to start then had the Red Curry (shrimp) and Mussaman Curry (scallops) and for desert, coconut ice cream and honey bananas.

It was outstanding.

Total not including tip and no booze was $60 for three apps, two entrees, two deserts.

Highly recommend.

Bangkok is one of our favorite restaurants, been eating there for years, know the owners really well. Never had a bad meal there.

You're right about the beef salad ("Tiger Tear"). It is fantastic. The larb gai is also excellent.

I agree that the curries are the star here. I get the green curry duck ("Thai hot") almost every time I go, because nothing is going to be better than that.

I shouldn't come to these threads when I'm hungry, seriously.

Speaking of thread, the Snow White salad is ground chicken with thread noodles and it is magnificent.

Very nice room and excellent service too.
