I left my wallet in the cart at Publix (Placida Rd. Englewood) yesterday and as I arrived home my husband was answering the phone saying they had it. A young bagger found it and turned it in.

I went back to get it and give him a cash reward. Imagine my trouble if someone else got it and I had to cancel credit cards. Horrors. He didn't want to take the money until I told him it was OK with the manager (I asked). I'd give his name but don't have his permission. I plan to send a note to the head manager with praise for his action.

The ass't manager and helper also did a great job finding my phone # since it's under my husbands name and mine is different.

Anyone else with a story about good people?

Speaking of Publix...I was in the one on the corner of 776 & 771 (Gasparilla Road) in Port Charlotte, not far from the location you just posted about, and a shopper walked up to the customer service counter while I was buying a Lottery Ticket. He found $100 bill folded as if someone had it in his pocket. There's really no way of identifying money, but he thought someone might have reported losing a $100 bill.

I have a few stories about good deeds, but I don't want to get anyone in trouble. However, I will mention that a couple from one of the CD forums visited me after an accident, picked up some groceries and made a ramp for my wheelchair. That was a nice thing to do!

We need to pass it along too. Sometimes people are afraid to ask for help. Once I was napping in my car and someone knocked on the window. "Are you feeling okay?" Yes, I was just in la-la land. LOL So, although I sometimes worry I'm acting a little nosy, I often do the same thing. A woman was leaning on her car in the Walmart parking lot and looked upset. So I asked, "Is everything okay, Ma'am?" She said she was fine, just waiting for her husband.

I love going to that Publix as the staff there is always so nice, however have had my car knicked twice in that parking lot and verbally attacked by the guy that knicked it when I brought it to his attention. The good thing was he had an out of state plate and hopefully doesn't live here! Nice to hear you got your wallet back and fortunately I have witnessed many acts of kindness, too many to mention

I left my purse in the shopping cart, realizing this a few hours later it was safe and sound with customer service at Palmer Ranch Publix (corner of 41 and Central Sarasota).

You are so lucky cause one time I was getting my car detailed at one of the many luxury car dealerships on Clark Rd and my friend picked me up there so we could grab lunch. She's a big couponer and carries a small organizer for her coupons and said someone had picked it right out of her purse while shopping at that publix, thinking it was a wallet no doubt. Good thing they only got her coupons!

I've only been here a week and, in my hurried confusion, left my wallet on a counter at the You Fit on Clark and a girl chased me down in the parking and handed it to me. I've found a LOT of good people here. I'm pleasantly surprised also at how helpful strangers have been in helping me find my way around. Life is good
