I visited Sarasota a week ago and liked what I saw, but the drinking water was not the best. Please tell me what a resident must do to remedy this situation?

Get a water filter that hooks up to the sink faucet.

Get a reverse osmosis system for under your kitchen sink. You will then have a separate faucet where you can get clean, filtered water. We have city water and bought one. We hooked it up to the fridge water and ice maker too. You can buy one at Home Depot and install it yourself.

We also use a Brita pitcher, and the fridge has a filter too for water & ice.
