I've been searching homes for sale on-line and sometimes see homes that list re-plumbing or re-piping having been done. Is a problem with the plumbing in the slab a common problem in the Sarasota County area?

Is it expensive?

I'm curious about this, too. I've seen houses that were less than 20 years old being replumbed. What's going on here?

We just had ours repiped (along with 4 of our neighbors We are all on well water. This is an issue if you have copper pipes in the slab. DM me if you want a recommendation. We had our 3000+ sq ft house done for under $4000. There was only one hole made as well and that was patched! The damage from the leak was much worse than the repipe. We went with CPVC. PEX is the other option.

Does insurance cover any of this damage? Or any of the re-piping?

Thanks!

I think if the house has original copper pipes in the slab, you should be prepared for a repipe at some point. A repipe should last 20 years or more. The pipes are warrantied lifetime though. It is done through the attic.
