A lot of fun things going on in the Sarasota - Bradenton area this weekend:
Good eats & music at the Gulf Coast Rhythm & Ribfest Competition at the Manatee county fairgrounds in Palmetto. This 3 day event includes people from all over the US competing for the title of best ribs, music by local bands and nationally known performers such as Marshall Tucker Band (takes me back to my college days
), Molly Hatchet and Tyrese. This event raises funds for a charity helping disadvantaged youth in our area.
Big collegiate volleyball competition on Siesta Key beach Friday and Saturday, featuring teams from 23 colleges & universities.
Friday from 5 to 10 pm is the big Spring Fling food truck fest in Sarasota at the corner of Ringling & Links. Lots of food and fun.
Mote Marine is holding their Party on the Pass on Saturday at 6 pm at the Mote aquarium's courtyard to support their hospital for dolphins, whales & sea turtles. Event info can be found on their website:

Saturday 9 - 1 is the big PetFest at Ruskin, FL, north of Bradenton. This event is to raise funds for CARE, a non-profit, no kill Ruskin animal shelter. The event is an "off the leash" dog event at the Dr. Ott's Off-Leash Dog Park in Ruskin.
Also worth mentioning again is the Sarasota Film Festival, which kicks off their week long celebration this Friday. Info on that is available on an earlier post.
