Looking for evening out with some entertainment in or around Venice area. We are in our 50's, don't want loud 'disco' but would like either good music with live band or just something a bit more than going our for a quiet meal. Don't mind driving to venue.

Sharkeys in Venice has live music I believe. It's usually something with in island feel (Jimmy Buffet-ish) or 60's-70's classics.
Venice doesn't have a lot to offer by way of "nightlife". Other than Sharkey's, I can only think of Bogey's or Pineapples for later hours.
I'm sure others will chime in with ideas.
If you want to go north, Pelican Alley by the Albee Rd. bridge on Casey Key has good food & live music too. The owner, Renee is an AMAZING singer.She & her husband are "Take Two". You'll find a good 40's-60's crowd there with a few youngin's..
