Siesta isn't No. 1 choice for all beachgoers | HeraldTribune.com (click for full article)

"One Sarasota beach may get all the attention, at least in the national media, but local folks have local favorites up and down the Gulf Coast.

Beachgoers are picky. And loyal."

I'd like to add Nokomis Beach to the list of possible alternatives. I don't think it was mentioned in the article.

Yeah, I like Siesta but depending on why we are going to the beach and what we want to do we may go to Caspersan, Venice, Nokomis or Siesta. But Siesta is usually the first one I bring visitors to!

If not for the fact that Siesta is the closest and easiest for me to get to, I would frequent the others. Siesta is more about it's sand, I'm guessing.

I favor Lido. Easy parking, never crowded. Bathrooms, snack area with lots of tables. The sand is fine and the beach is huge

I thought Siesta was wonderful but if you're looking for a quiet, cleaner one, I'd go to Venice.
