I am relocating to Sarasota/Venice and wondering if anyone has knowledge or experience finding a job as an x-ray tech in these areas? I am also looking in Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Bradenton. I am open to traveling, but was hoping on some advice/ insight.

I know there are numerous hospitals and imaging centers, however, I am from Cleveland and x-ray jobs are difficult to find. I am hoping to have better luck in Florida and was wondering if anyone might even know a successful recruitment company. I am trying to find my best option to landing an x-ray job or getting my foot in the door with a hospital/ imaging center.

Any resume advice would also be greatly appreciated.

Many of the medical field jobs hire per diem (as needed). Here are some jobs.

There are not that many jobs in the x-ray field right now in this area. You just have to keep applying and see if you get lucky enough to get an interview. You will need to get your license in Florida too. Go to the Florida Health Dept web site to see what you need to do: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/rad-tech/rad-faq.html

Thank you for all of this info! I have come across many of these facilities already, but some are new to me-- so thanks!

My license has already been approved for the state of Florida. I submitted all my documents and it was approved on last Friday.

If there is anyone out there who has experience getting a job in a hospital (even as a receptionist, patient registration, etc) please let me know your story and if it was a challenge for you, what you would recommend, if there is a specific resume' style that is better than the other... that kind of thing.

Has anyone worked with a recruiter?

If you are looking for a recruiter, I would try one of the following employment service agencies. They help people every day to find a job. They offer resume writing and other workshops for free and will review your resume for free. Contact one of the local agencies and get started today. I have many students that used them when I taught at the Charlotte Technical Center.

Suncoast Workforce - Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice
One-Stop Career Center Details

Southwest Florida Works - Charlotte County
One-Stop Career Center Details

My stepdaughter used a recruiter for insurance when she moved here from NY. They got her several interviews within a couple of days time frame. So she flew down and they set up everything for her. But they don't do medical. I am not sure where you would find a specific medical recruiter. Hopefully someone can recommend one to you, but in the meantime I would try one of the local One-Stop Career Centers I listed above. Good luck.
