Can anyone tell me the difference between these two Lakewood Ranch leagues? I know there are subtle rule differences but does anyone have experience that makes one league preferable over the other? Looking for the 10 and under crowd. Thx.
My son started at Cal Ripken and then switched to Braden River Little League. We prefer Little League baseball because it seems to be more about the kids learning the fundamentals and having fun. Cal Ripken seemed to be more about the parents and the way they choose the teams is extremely political. Both leagues have very good coaches and have a good reputation for playing good baseball. Also, Cal Ripken plays a lot of Saturday games where Little League plays most of their games during the week so if you like your weekends away from baseball then Little League is the way to go.

A grandfathers perspective: The most important thing is that Youth Sports, in this case baseball, should be fun for the kids.
We had 3 boys play at 12th St. It was associated with Little League at that time( a long time ago). Politics got involved, and in my opinion the place went downhill fast. The adults were so wrapped up in themselves, the program suffered, and ultimately they switched their Little League affiliation to Cal Ripken. It made us all sad.
Fast forward to the present. We have a grandson playing Little League at Twin Lakes. He smiles and has fun. The parents seem happy. It was a difficult decision for my son. He had so many memories of 12th Street. In the end, after talking to other parents he said it was an easy choice to make.
So my vote would be Little League.
