The market for jobs is tough right now, but it is stabilizing and unemployment is dropping. I cannot speak about the specific areas you were wo defying about, sorry! I would say for sure that you should have at least one stable income before relocating..

I just moved back here three months ago from the Charlotte NC area, & while I don't know about the financial sector, my kids have found the job market to be better here than in NC. By far.
