FYI ... I was at Caspersen Beach today. By the afternoon there were literally hundreds of dead fish floating in the water and washing up on the sand. I called the DoH and they did say there was a red tide bloom. So be forewarned before heading to this beach.

Caspersen Beach is located in Venice FL about 25-30 minutes south of Siesta Key.

be warned to do a search on this beach. it is a well known homosexual hang out. there have been more than a few arrested here for disgusting acts. if you do go stay out of the secluded areas.

Just returned from Casperson beach. Lots of dead fish on the shoreline and the smell was pretty strong. I was coughing a little and water was a brownish green color. Only stayed about an hour because a big thunderstorm was coming in. I read that the red tide bloom was going SW, away from Sarasota (Sarasota is N of Venice). No news of any problems at Siesta Beach, and they had a big triathlon there today, lots of people in the water.

I was at Venice Beach for sunset last night and saw several dead fish. Went to Siesta Key today and everything was fine.

Hey Jersey, how's Englewood Beach and Stump Pass? For Red Tide, that is.

Manasota beach is loaded with dead fish. Stinks down by the water. Took a walk over to the beach yesterday and we were coughing and congested all night.

Husband was at a lecture for the red tide at Mote yesterday and all they really know about the red tide in Venice is that there is red tide in Venice. It doesn't drift or move but it blooms. There was also some detected in St. Petersburg. Mote has a remote control diver "Waldo" that dives the red tide constantly. It could last up to a year.

I was at Caspersen today. No signs of red tide, no dead fish, no stench. The county did a great job with the clean up. Venice beach looked good as well. So for now seems like things are back to normal.
