FWIW, I've had a couple of boats with porta-potties. They are no fun but they do the job and that's the point. If you have to go, you have to go...it's really that simple. I probably would never have had one were it not for the ladies in my life but that's another story.

Our boat has a 5 gallon plastic bucket and a camping-type "seat" that fits on the top. It stores perfectly next to the engine under the sun platform. I keep a gallon zip lock bag with a roll of toilet paper and a smaller zip lock for the used tp in it. After i use it, it's emptied over the side. Easy-peasy.

Any of the women that are usually with me would never squat over a bucket out in the open

Three miles? Isn't that the legal minimum?

Oh please. Is this supposed to be a slam about my femininity? I don't "squat". I told you there's a seat on it. And I make the hubby drive out in the middle of the lake where no one can see me. And can you tell me how dumping the bucket over the side is any different than men peeing over the side???
And I suppose none of "your women" pee when they're swimming or wading in the water. I suppose that would be just too gauche.

The federal government actually addresses this. As long as you urinate over the side of the boat, there isn't a problem because urine is considered sterile. Feces are considered hazardous waste and toxic to the water.

I'll find a link for you.
