Cone shaped hole? Probably a armadillo.

Definitely looks like armadillo to me. We have them around our oak trees and I have seen the armadillo doing it. They are hunting for food.

Yes, armadillos! They are at it in my yard also. They are finding grubs, so your lawn must be buggy or they wouldn't be there.

Just let nature be. The armadillo gets rid of the grubs, and the holes they make don't do any real harm, just cosmetic. They will stop eventually when the grub supply runs out.

armadillos are cute. the holes are not. Do i need to worry about the grubs? Do the armadillos cause any more problems then holes? Is there anything I can put in the yard that would repell them? If the bobcats, owls and hawks don't bother them I don't know what I'm gonna do but I won't be shootin, chootin' or havin' a rootin-tootin' armadillo cook-out. Just want to know if I should do anything about it or not.

thanks

Yes, You Can Get Leprosy From an Armadillo - ScienceNOW

if you put down insecticide for the grubs the armadillos will go away.
