One of the great things about living in FL this time of year is the variety and quantity of events, festivals and things to do - many of them free or at little cost.

Here's a short list of some of the things you can find in the Sarasota area this weekend.

Friday night - Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch's Main street and Live from Downtown in downtown Sarasota. Both events run 6 - 9 pm.

The Sarasota Chalk Festival continues this weekend in downtown Sarasota/ Burns Square area on Pineapple Ave. This year's theme is Circus City USA.

This weekend provides 2 car shows - Ferrari's at St. Armands Circle on Saturday 10 am - 3 pm, over 75 of these exotic cars on display AND Southside Village SECA Car Show on Hillview St in Sarasota on Sunday from 10 am - 4 pm.

Saturday is the Osprey Fall Festival 10 - 3 at Bay Preserve, behind the entrance to Historic Spanish Point. Crafts, food, games and music AND Hispanic Festival at St. Jude Catholic Church on 17th St in Sarasota, 10 am - 6 pm, with Latin food, music and entertainment.

Saturday and Sunday is the Taste of Manatee, moved this year to the Rossi Park at Riverwalk. 30 local restaurants will provide food, live music and lots of fun, 11 am - 10 pm. On Sunday you'll also find the Pioneer Roundup at the Riverwalk, which will feature activities surrounding Manatee's boat building, fishing, cattle and agriculture industries.

For the soon to be brides, the Bridal Expo on Sunday at the Bradenton Convention Center in Palmetto is your place to be, with lots of wedding related vendors and bridal shows.

Coming the following weekend are a few of the most popular events in our area -- the sand scupting competition at Siesta Key, St. Armands Art Festival, Sarasota Medieval Fair and one new event, Art Slam at Riverwalk Park in downtown Bradenton.

We were going to eat at Nancy's BBQ and stumbled into the chalk fest saturday eve. It was a zoo. The theme is circus and I guess I am one of a handful that doesn't like the circus. Some great artists though.
The whole downtown area seemed to be busy.
