We've been riding our bikes to our kids house and to the South Venice Ferry since September and enjoying those rides. Today we went to Shamrock Park & Nature Center. We've been there many times with our granddaughter, she loves the playground there. We rode there today and got on the Venetian Trail that runs alongside the ICW. It was a great ride with beautiful scenery and the trail is paved and wide. There were so many bikers out today along with people out for a walk. There are picnic tables, benches and restrooms at the trail heads along the way.
I have to admit I didn't really know much about the Venetian trail or the Legacy trail. We got home and pulled out a map we had on the trails and then got on the internet to learn more. What a fantastic asset this is for Sarasota County. We can't wait to get out for another ride tomorrow. If you like to ride a bike or walk yourself or your dog, these multi-purpose trails are for you. I can't believe I've been missing out on such a great thing right here in my own community! I obviously need to get out more.

It is an investment that is taking the longer view.. For visitors and residents, it's a beautiful natural setting that certainly outshines the mass of strip malls that run from Venice to Sarasota on 41. I would rather people left with this impression of the area than the other.
