We have just purchased a house in Sarasota and are looking to have a pool screen enclosure installed, Can anyone give me recommendations in the area?
Also , some idea of what it would cost ? I understand there are a lot of variables here ... but a ball park?
Thanks!

A new screen enclosure will be built to current hurricane standards. You would need to contact your homeowner insurance company to see what the difference would be in your homeowner insurance with the screen enclosure. Some insurance companies do not cover screen enclosures on the policy.

I think many (most or maybe all) insurance carriers stopped covering screen enclosures within the past year.

You should check about the insurance ahead of time before you decide to spend money on something that might not be insurable.

The screens deteriorate from exposure to sun/wind/rain and they have to be replaced. It's a pretty regular maintenance item.

Our insurance covered our enclosure but the aluminum only. Screens themselves are not covered. We have ASI.

Maybe the windstorm coverage is excluded but fire/other damage still applies. Not really sure. Windstorms is where the high risk is, for obvious reasons.

There might have been some recent legislation on this issue.

Here is an article that says Citizens has exluded these.

We took out insurance in May when we bought house in Nokomis and our pool cage is covered under the secondary homeowners policy for fire/theft--not the Citizens policy--I believe
the secondary policy has different provisions and we took higher valuation to get damage value of pool cage raised...

Contact these guys SWFLrescreens.com . I think they are owned by gulf coast aluminum. They'll give you a ball park with your dimensions or send someone out when you are not home to measure and then email you the estimate.
