This was an article published by the North Port Sun on their Facebook Page.

NORTH PORT SUN— New residential home permits for February not only topped last year’s numbers, but doubled in property valuations, according to North Port Building Department officials.

Additionally, last month’s new home permits were the most generated for a February in five years, according to figures released by the city this week. Last February, there were 16 permits totalling $3,821,871, compared with 23 new home permits last month totalling $6,323,128, said city Building Director Scott Williams.

“The month of February was extremely productive,” City Building Official Bryan Holland said Tuesday. “This marks one full calendar year we exceeded 1,000 inspections each month (for everything from remodels to pools). We are on pace to hit 15,000 inspections for 2013. We are approaching 800 permit applications for the calendar year, putting us on pace for 5,000 total permits (for all jobs) issued for 2013. This includes over 100 single-family dwelling permits thus far. Commercial permits continue to trickle in, keeping us on pace to meet our budget projections.”

New home construction was generated from builders including Centex Homes, DiVosta Homes, Pulte Homes, Teixeira Construction and Adams Homes. Some of the houses are in the West Villages area off U.S. 41, near State College of Florida. Others are on the eastern end of town, near Woodland Middle School. The homes range in price from $229,773 to $335,010.

We have two In Our neighborhood that just finished, two others still under construction and one a street over for. Us waiting for permits. That isn't saying there aren't more, just what I've seen on my daily travels.

I believe we are all better off when the economy is expanding. New construction in the Island Walk section of the West Villages is very brisk as noted. I just hope that the Grand Paradiso development can get its issues resolved. Anyone know the status of resolving this mess?

Yeah, what was the story on the Grand Paradiso? It looks like it was going to be very nice.

Default north port

Hello,
My husband & I live in NJ and just contracted to have a home built in NP. We were down there for two months and love it. We met some great people and I'm sure once we are settled we will meet many more. We are both retired and lare in the process of selling our house here in Jersey. I've gotten lots of useful information from this forum, thanks to all for your postings.

Welcome future north porter! We have one home under construction over on the next street and noticed surveyor pegs on our street for which we assume a new home. You may be my neighbor!
