Our daughter and SIL are getting ready to replace the windows in their 70s ranch--
normally I know that is not recommended really but they have jalousie windows that are falling apart...
they got quote from aluminum company in Venice area which was way high...so now they are talking to Lowe's but from everything I have read about subs through Lowe's that is a hit or miss proposition and this will be a big bill so should be done right...

Anyone have suggestions for companies you have used in Venice/Nokomis area or further afield if they travel well?
They can't really afford to buy the best on the market but want something that will be good quality for money
so suggestions as to mfg/brand/type of window appreciated as well...

If they are replacing the windows they must either be hurricane wind resistant windows that meet current codes or they have to have hurricane shutters. They will also need to pull a permit. Usually the company that installs the windows will pull the permit. If they are purchasing hurricane windows they are very expensive. I would recommend getting estimates from at least 3 different places.

Advanced Window Concepts is in Venice - Advanced Window Concepts
You can search online for other companies or use the Business and Service Directory in the local newspaper.

PGT aka Windguard brand windows is very common in the area. Aluminum frame.

You can get tint that is not much upcharge and worth it. It's not film.

Mullet's Aluminum in Sarasota is a common company that sell/installs windows. You probably tried Absolute Alum. Try Kimall Lumber in Nokomis...they have a window and door sales area. They supply to new home builders and they sell PGT. They know their stuff.
