Lots of big events this weekend involving music:

Tonight is free Music in the Park at the Riverwalk Park in downtown Bradenton, 6 - 8 pm.

Saturday & Sunday - the Sarasota Folk & Acoustic Music Festival at Oscar Scherer State Park on US41 in Osprey, 11 am - 10 pm each day, tickets at the gate. Food vendors, work shops and lots of music.

On Sunday is the Giving Hunger the Blues Fest - a big block party in Sarasota on Hillview street, 12 to 8 pm. Games, food, music and dance demos. $5 per person donation requested.


2 Arts & Crafts shows this weekend - Anna Maria Island, next to city hall, 10 - 4:30 both days. Free admission,
and
Sarasota Arts & Crafts show in downtown Sarasota on Main street, 10 - 5 both days. Also free admission.


Saturday is the big Lakewood Ranch Easter Egg Hunt for kids 2 - 13 at the Adventure Park. Will include a petting zoo, face painting and donuts & coffee. Starts at 10:15 am. Residents $5 for adults, $3 for kids, 2 & under free. (Lots more egg hunts next weekend.)


The Sarasota Invitational Rowing Regatta will take place this weekend at the lake in Benderson Park, south of University Parkway just west of I75. Parking is $5 a car, admission is free. Starts 8 am on Saturday and 9 am on Sunday.


Feel like eating some crawfish this weekend? St. Martha's Catholic School is hosting their annual Cajun Crawfish Festival on Saturday, 11 am - 7 pm at the school on Fruitville Rd. There will also be music, games, rides and activities for the family. Tickets $10/adult, $5 per child, 3 & under free. Tickets online at www.srqcrawfishfestival.com.


Also this weekend the ballroom dancers will be in town at the Sarasota Ballroom Dance Competition, Hyatt Regency Hotel on Blvd of the Arts, 9 am - 6 pm each day. Open to the public. Joe from my office will be competing in the event -- go Joe!


Saturday is the Spring Fling Car Show & Silent Auction by the Imagine Schools, Palmetto, 10 am - 4 pm.


Another big area event this weekend is the Honda Grand Prix of St. Pete. Downtown St. Pete becomes a race course for the high powered race cars with people from all over the world in town for the event. More info at: www.stpete.org/grandprix/
