My family is looking to move to FL and we have been focusing strongly on Parrish. We're also thinking a bit about Sarasota.

The two are completely different. I suggest you rent before purchasing. We are in Sarasota. The quality of public schools varies throughout each county.

Thanks Srqzoo, I don't think we will rent before purchasing. We live over 1,000 miles away and it's a big move for us to move twice with a young child and elderly family member. Plus selling our house we currently have. Just too much moving.
We will visit again, but visiting for a few days is of course not the same as living there!
Can you elaborate on what you mean by completely different?
