Anyone know of any places where there are full size plumeria trees in the ground growing in town? I'd love to go see.

Hoping to grow some potted ones on our lanai, but they are kind of pathetic and don't give off the kind of smells the full/giant trees do - like in Hawaii.

Pointers to the best/cheapest place in town to buy rooted plumies in pots would be appreciated too!

I have seen some big ones in and around my neighborhood in Whitfield Estates - I think most any older area you will find some. I have a small one that I bought a couple years ago at Home Depot of all places, they are pretty easy to grow. You might ask around at local nurseries, one I can recommend would be Wayne Hibbs Farm & Garden on Beneva.

Good luck!

There are several in our neighborhood as well (DeSoto Acres). There are many on the north end of Anna Maria Island. We have ours planted in the ground on the south side of the house. They are doing very well.

I have one that was here when we bought the house. Every yr it's starts out to put out new leaves and start to bloom, then it gets "rust" and all the leaves fall and it looks pathetic. I have tried to treat it in the past but this yr I am just going to pull it up. So if you buy one make sure it is from rust resistant stock. Rust looks like a rusty orange powder on the backside of the leaves. I believe it's a type of fungus or mold.
