What is the truth? Was Heron Creek Country Club ever a landfill, and if it was; are there any problems from it? Could you please provide some information, if you happen to live in the area.

I had never heard of that before, so I looked it up. There are some You Tube videos about it from 2010. I have sold homes in Heron Creek and never seen any disclosures to that effect. My buyers are all happy living in the community. The HOA and community fees are high compared to other communities. It will be interesting to see what others have to say about the landfill.

It might be, a lot of golf courses are built on landfills, however if you go in timeview on google earth, it's just a forest.

I have always heard landfills could spontaneously combust? I have heard of them burning from within for years.

Just thought I'd throw that in the pot

There is a lady who researched it and found out it was - I don't know if her video is on u-tube but she did say there is no other info on the internet - all covered up.

The other thing I notice is that Heron Creek has a lot of hills in it. Why is that?

I looked in Google Earth at their historical data, and went back to the earliest satellite images of Heron Creek from 1995. This is Heron Creek then....... Doesnt look like a landfill to me in any way shape or form. Nice mature trees and no dump sites.

The remnants of roads in the 1995 photo are from 1965. That's when thousands of acres of North Port Charlotte [now Northport] and Port Charlotte were developed by General Development. If Heron Creek was a land fill, it would have had to be before 1965. And if so, who owned the land and why isn't or weren't there the typical landfill mountain like at the old landfill at the end of Bee Ridge Rd.

This link is to the EPA for the National List of Asbestos Landfills. On page 32 it lists City of North Port Transfer Station off Sumter Blvd. But does not give an exact address. Is there a transfer station off Sumter Blvd that is still active?

MORE CORRUPTION IN NORTH PORT Florida | Sarasota Crooked Lawyers

The article above says the land in Heron Creek was owned by Chemical Research corp which changed its name to General Development - what a joke - it was a toxic landfill
