Is the Brohard Beach and Paw Park open to the public? We will be traveling to the area in October from Connecticut with our disabled dog and would like to be able to swim him while in Florida. Also how far is it from the parking area to the dog area? Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes it is open to the public and the parking is right outside the fenced area for the dogs. If those spots are taken you can park across the street, it can get crowded. There is a bit of a walk from the parking area to the actual beach. I don't know what your dogs disability is so can't say if it will be too far for him.

I don't know how disabled your dog is but the waves may be too much for him. What about the pool where you are staying?

I went there today and had a great time watching all the dogs playing. Some were in the fenced park area and others were at the beach. Most we're just running free and playing with other dogs. It is a long walk from the park to the beach. There is no parking fee. It is just down the road from Sharky's on the Pier. It is a public park. I will go back again. I went with my brother and sister in law. They took their Samoyed. There were all sizes of dogs there.

Been there a few times with our shorkie. October should be nice, go during the week, weekend gets pretty crowded. Sand gets very hot (unlike siesta key) so a blanket is good to have. Pick a day with little or light winds and waves will not be a problem. good luck and enjoy
