Moving to Sarasota, in our 50's, and need an MD, who is board certified in Internal Medicine, and is not older than d.... because I do not want to start with someone new again in a few years. I've had the same doctor for over 25 years and am very nervous about starting with someone new. Must have priviledges at Sarasota Memorial and Doctors Hospital.......Venice Hospital would be a bonus, just in case....

I have cancer and my husband has high blood pressure and is on Lipitor for high lipids. I would probably fly home to Boston if there was anything serious....but I need to get basic medical needs met in an emergency by a qualified and competent physician. We do not do emergency rooms for normal medical care.

I can highly recommend Dr. Robert Marcantonio. He works with Intercoastal Medical Group. Board certified internist, extremely good guy, and an excellent doc. I'm not sure he works in Venice but definitely SMH and pretty sure about DH. Office is near Bee Ridge on Cattleman.

Also at the same location is Richard Duckworth. I am really impressed with him- definitely thorough and has a nice bedside manner.

We moved here recently and have become established with a family practice guy in the Intercoastal Medical Group. It seems to be thorough network of very competent staff so far.

I cannot believe that no one is thrilled enough with their doctor to recommend .......what is everyone so healthy?

Or are you afraid the wait will be longer...........kind of like not wanting to recommend your cleaning person........

I would not call the three people who made recommendations "no one".

The request was for something pretty specific and unique that not everyone here would have a recommendation............ I'd say the board gets a +1 for this many helpful posts!

Default Internist recommendations

You are most correct--60's/70's means they are going to retire soon. Want someone younger than us--not older. With over 50,000 people living in Sarasota, most of whom must have a doctor (at least you would think---otherwise, we wouldn't want their recommendation anyway)---you would think there would be more than 3 replies.

A board certified doctor is the least basic qualification we would want in any of our doctors--no one we know would go to an MD who is not board certified in their specialty. Have to assume no one would recommend their doctor---and will continue to travel north on a periodic basis. Thanks to those who responded with recommendations
