As the title clearly states. Oh the tudes of some people in this town. Does anyone know of a spot to hang out for the under 40 crowd? Preferably people who haven't lost the tip of their nose in the ceiling fan yet.

Much appreciated. Oh and I should add as I'm sure you have already deduced, I am not the type of person who can afford a 10 dollar meal, so social clubs who attend expensive coffee houses and restaurants are not my "thing".

I know you said no expensive coffee shops, but I don't think this one has to be expensive depending on what you order. It is the Coffee Loft on the North Tamiami Trail just south of University near the Ringling Museum. It actually has a loft with cozy seating groups and tables. It has a great vibe and draws students and faculty of all the schools in that area.

let me expand a little.
what IS your thing? If you pick up a paper, especially the thursday edition you'll find a Ticket section that has listings of plenty of things to do that are either free or within your "$10 meal" budget. Try the library. MEETUP website, sports leagues, volunteer, or a number of other things.
But what are you really looking for?
If you just want to vent, i'm sure there are a lot of other negative posters on this forum you could meet up with.

Let me just say- yes, there are many wealthy people in this town. There are even more trying desperately to look wealthy. They are often the ones who come off as acting they better than everyone else. I've seen it a lot & say to myself what an exhausting & disappointing life they must lead....

PS. if someone CAN afford an over $10 meal, please don't assume that makes them "wealthy & snobby" either.

You can find good people in this town just about anywhere. Whether they have 10 dollars or 10 million dollars shouldn't matter if they treat you well. We have friends in all ranges of the spectrum because really, we don't give a rat's a$$ what is in their bank acct. We care more about what beer they have in the fridge

It is your thread title that makes you subject to misunderstanding.

How come you didn't label your thread "looking for a down to earth, under 40, inexpensive place to hang out"?

Your title complains about snobby people without giving any information. That is why it sound like you have attitude and want to vent.
