People are now going to the north bridge to avoid this & why it's now deadlocked on both bridges every day....
What a disaster! The South Bridge was always backed up to the light during season but I can't imagine now.

Stupid snowbirds.

We went to a wedding last night on SK and it took over an hour to find a parking spot - and then we had to walk about a mile to the site. Crazy.

AMI is a zoo, right now, as well. It took over an hour just to get from the pier to the Cortez bridge on Saturday afternoon.

(Not to mention the heartbreaking accident that caused the congestion just over the bridge. 90-year-old turned his Buick out in front of an 18-year-old on a motorcycle. Saw the body covered with a white-sheet, which was incredibly jarring and sad.)

This whole region is a cluster**** right now. My hubby and I decided to go to St. Pete on Sat - the line of traffic COMING INTO the area was unreal - bumper to bumper over the bridges for miles, and I am talking US 41. Amazingly, the traffic up to and into St. Pete was negligible. And we always walk right into any restaurant we want no matter what kind of festival is going on there.

We like where we live here, but every year the traffic and crowds get worse, start earlier and last longer. I am thinking when my hubby retires (6 years or so) we will go ahead and make the move to St. Pete, which we have loved for a long time now. That is, unless it starts getting too crazy there, too, but somehow I doubt it. This area has been hyped and overhyped for a long time now, mainly due to the islands and beaches, but now the sports events are drawing a lot of people as well. The infrastructure really can't handle all of this.

Easter is very late this year -year is an extended season....hence the terrible traffic. Usually April is much more subdued. if we weren't such a popular destination it wouldn't be any one here. also all of the northern states had such a horrible winter it drew even more people south. Working in the vacation industry we sure do hope you all come back.
