We just went through this process. As part of the permitting process in Manatee County you had to draw a site plan of the property and where the shed will be located. Also- we almost made a big mistake trying to buy a shed off of Craigslist that was about 5 years old. If you can't document (from the manufacturer) that it will withstand 140 mph winds, it will not get approved. We ended up buying a new one that will be delivered and tied down properly so it's sure to pass inspection.

Is there a rule or ordinance in north port asto what color yourshed can be painted? We heard that it must be the same color as your house, is that true orcan it be painted any color?

I am not sure if there is a rule on color, I don't think so but the people that sell the sheds can tell you for sure. Ours happens to be close to the color of our house so I never thought to ask that question.

That sounds like it would be a Homeowners Association rule rather than a city rule.

Charlotte County has an ordinance to that effect: House and shed have to be the same color.

BTW a shed of less than 100sq ft does not need a permit. That is pretty small for most people but on a small lot it may be all that fits.
