The title says it all. I know some of you live right in this area. I'm seeing few but not so good reviews about it. What is your opinion? Is the food fresh and tasty? Is it a better bet for lunch or dinner?

We also looked at the Super Buffet VI on Fruitville. Is that the same or better?

Thanks!

I think this is the worst china buffet in the area. I like the one on Fruitville . Used to like Chen's on 41 not so much now.

I have not encountered a single Chinese buffet in the area to which I would return.

Chen's was definitely sub-par.

Have not been to Yummy House yet, but so far Big Panda (Palmer Crossing) has been easily the best Chinese I have had in Sarasota.

Actually the best Chinese food we've found in the area is a little restaurant called the Wok Inn, in the shopping center on the SE corner of Bahia Vista & Beneva.

I have heard this before. I keep meaning to get over there.

NO Chinese buffet is ever any good.

As far as Chinese food, haven't tried it yet, but Yummy House is ALWAYS slammed, and I mean slammed, so I'm thinking it must be good. Most who go there consider it the best in the area, although these things are subjective.

Thanks everyone for the responses. We like to try Chinese buffets, realizing the food is mass produced. As long as the items are fresh, hot, tasty and a good variety, it's worth a visit every now and then. It sounds like the Super Buffet is better than Sakura, so we'll try that.

That is right in the heart of the Amish "Pinecraft" community which boasts Der Dutchman restaurant as well as Yoder's. I have to go to Der Dutchman when I am in that part of town. It's like my stomach is a magnet and takes me there whether the brain wants to or not.

I was advised by my brother, a longtime local physician, years ago to never eat off of ANY buffet for a variety of health reasons..lol

He jokes that it's bad enough around SRQ ordering off the menu itself but at least human contact is less on the way to your table.

I also would never, ever ever eat "all you can eat SUSHI" ! are you kidding me ? there's a good reason why it's "all you can eat". Talk about nasty !.

By the way, whether you realize it or not, 90% of all of the so-called Chinese restaurants around Sarasota and Manatee are controlled or indirectly owned or co-owned, by only 3 Chinese families and their in-laws or extended families...lol.......you're essentially getting the same sourced food from each and every one of them....LOL Same stuff, whether from the patriarch Mr Chang or Joyce across the street...

ENJOY ! I know better.

Try the Hibachi Grill at 3616 1st St in Bradenton - northwest corner across from the Desoto Mall. Prices are very reasonable and # of food items offered is large. Seniors, ask for the 10% discount.
