THANK YOU for telling us about the map's little guy ! I never knew I could do that ! Cool

This is an interesting thread; I will have to visit Englewood when I'm ready to relocate to the area. How is the water? Does it have that sulpher smell and taste?

If you're talking about drinking water, englewood water district has excellent water! No sulphur or chlorine smell, or taste.

The Goodwill in Englewood is not so great. The best Goodwill is probably North Port or on the island of Venice.

There are a few! Grove city thrift is on placida road & San casa, funky & thrifty is on s. McCall, there are two sun coast humane society thrift stores- one on 776 between Dearborn & McCall, and one on 776 out toward San casa. There's Nearly New on access rd (mainly furniture and home accessories). There are others, too, but since I mainly look for furniture finds, I skip them.

During season Nov-May, there is the second largest farmer's market in Sarasota County on downtown Dearborn Street every Thursday. Lots of plants, fresh produce, local food and more! A more arts and crafts market is located across the street as well. The Englewood Firecracker Festival will be held there this Friday for July 4.

I just remembered I think Coastal Living magazine did one of its short "this town is interesting" articles on Englewood--don't remember the month's edition but was going through some I had kept and saw it again...very positive...
Might Google and see if you can find it online at the site...

I moved to Englewood after living in Sarasota for 10 years. I can't see going back to Sarasota. Increasing traffic to me is the biggest drawback. I like the slower pace in Englewood.

There are activities on Englewood's Dearborn St, what the locals consider the heart of the downtown and the arts district, but I wouldn't call it a real downtown like Venice.

In fact, if you like Englewood you should also consider Venice. It's a step up in terms of area amenities compared to Englewood but doesn't have the traffic problems of Sarasota. The Venice downtown is a real downtown with nice locally-owned shops and restaurants.
