Sarasota's First Culvers Now Open (Port Charlotte, University: coupons, university, restaurants)

It sure didnt take them long to build it, 60 days and it went from dirt to fully complete. Looks like the first one in Sarasota, the closest ones before that were St Pete and Punta Gorda.

Burgers, Ice Cream, Wisconsin Cheese Curds, Salads, Sides and all that jazz.

There is one in Port Charlotte. They have good fried chicken.

They call their ice cream Frozen Custard and they have lots of cool flavor mixes including a flavor of the day. They had a flyer that listed the flavor of the day for the entire month, so you could plan a return visit for a special flavor. I didn't try to frozen custard but it seems to be a a major product. They have a freezer display where customers can get take-home frozen custard in large sizes. Similar to the freezer section at DQ.

I drove by there around 10:15 and I was surprised at how quickly they got it together. Anyone know about their burgers?

It's newish. Just off I-75 same exit as Cracker Barrel, I think. King's Highway.

Yes, the one in Port Charlotte is off of Kings Highway. It is in front of the WalMart there. I see coupons in the paper all the time for it but have never been.

Just ate dinner there despite the protest by the wife.

She had the shrimp basket and the cheese curds (I think shrimp is nasty, but she liked it, the cheese curds were very delicious, like popcorn cheese sticks)

I had the double butter bacon burger with fries and diet root beer (Nice to see that soda choice). The burger was good, not "awesome", I'd say 8/10.

Lots of other things on the menu like chicken, salads, fish, and other stuff. Had no room to try the ice cream.

So overall, very delicious, happy to have another fast-ish-food place around.
