Hello all,

Would like to know - those living in the Bradenton area - what they think of the area west of the town. North of Cortez and west of 75th St W.

How decent are the neighborhoods around there, friendliness, crime/problems, cleanliness, etc.

Just looking for anyone's input on that general area as we may be looking to purchase a home there.

Thank you!

Brian S.

Are you talking about the area between Cortez & Manatee west of 75th & east of Palma Sola Bay? Great neighborhood ~ what do you really want to know?

Yep, that is pretty much it. Area just north of Cortez - 43rd Ave W / Inspiration Academy.

Oh, ok, I had a rental property over off Cortez & 43rd. It's a mixed bag. I sold my property in 2004 prior to the bottom dropping out; I prefer west of 75th street or north of Manatee & west of 59th street. Are you buying for yourself would be next question.

Agree with other posts. Values are best the further west you go in Bradenton, and north of Cortez.

Thank you all. We just heard word that our offer was accepted on the place. It is a half-duplex as part of a condominimum community on 78th St W. Seems based on a couple of mentions, it is a good area.

I never thought that was a bad area at all, but I lived in Cortez itself in Egret Harbor area.

There's a small neighborhood of duplexes right around 75th and Cortez, which I think is the area you're referring to. Not to put a damper on things, but I don't care for that neighborhood. Have you ever been there, driven through it, or walked around at night? Many of the places don't seem to be well taken care of in comparison to the rest of west Bradenton. It's probably safe to say it's one of the few lower-income neighborhoods in west Bradenton.

I came across a crime map you can refer to to look at the crime rate for each area/neighborhood you're considering. Zoom into the specific neighborhood for details.

I moved to a condo in West Bradenton about two years ago, it's off 59th St between Manatee and Cortez close to Blake Hospital. I have found this area a great place to live it's close to shopping, doctors and the beach. When I was looking for a place to live in Bradenton I was told by my realtor and by some people on this forum the two best zip codes to live in Bradenton were 34209 and 34210. Hopes this helps.
