Okay, where to go?? And PASS on the $119 per adult Buffet at the Ritz. I mean Really??! We have an 8yo, and are open to ideas. Nice atmosphere, maybe more reasonable than $119 per adult... Thanks in advance, just looking for something different instead of cooking for the fam : )

Find your local Golden Corral or Ryan's or something of that nature.
Maybe a local family restaurant that has a special, a truck stop, church gathering if that appeals to you.
Pot luck style with other families?

Der Dutchman Restaurant is going to be open this Thanksgiving. It's a Mennonite restaurant on Bahia Vista in Sarasota that has "old fashioned" cooking, with real mashed potatoes, they use local fresh veggies, home made rolls and bread (with home made peanut butter), plus an extensive salad bar and mouth watering pies. Their web site states adults will be $21.99 for Thanksgiving dinner. Ymmm.

Cracker Barrel. Usually $13/pp - turkey, ham, typical sides, slice of pie & drink included.

A little thread drift. You are making me excited about the upcoming holidays. Last year I flew in to Tampa in December and arrived in Sarasota just as the Christmas parade was breaking up. It looked sooo cool with all the families and with people on decorated golf carts.

My impression is that Sarasota really gets into holidays. How is Halloween here? Weirdly that was the most popular holiday in So Cal.

Okay, thanks all. I was hoping for Somewhere between Golden Corral and The Ritz. Der Dutchman came recommended by another also..as did Marina Jacks and Michaels on East. Any input on these two?

There are a lot of Halloween events in the Sarasota area. I don't know how it would compare to California, but you will find a number of haunted houses, the Lowry Zoo in Tampa does a great event, you'll find Halloween events on Siesta Key, Anna Maria Island & St. Armands Circle, in Venice, Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota as well. Mote Marine does a halloween event. There's usually a Howl-O-Ween event for pets & their owners too. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Just know that the line for Der Dutchman will be way out the door. Seeing it will probably make you happy to pay the $100+ to the Ritz.
