Is anyone else in this situation also? Does anyone have the area on their radar and are planning to come to the area and live for a long time? If so I am available to talk. I am open for roommate ideas or whatever can happen.

I am 34 yrs old just about, single, likes the beach, likes fishing if I can ever go of course, cigar bars, bar hopping in general, a few concerts here and there.

I am looking for relatively inexpensive rent and a neighborhood I can stay in is what I desire. Again, it could be St Pete but it also could be Sarasota too. I am targeting these 2 heavily. Even if not on the beach, I kinda want to be somewhat near it. Feel free to talk in private.

Get your move on because rentals are slim & expensive in Sarasota; if you look through Craigslist, you'll see what I mean.

I feel there will always be something affordable though if I look and again, I can't take just one persons advice. I have to go through the rounds not for nothing. I am looking at an affordable budget per month but I don't want to add all details about me. That is why I want someone to talk in private more. I mean write here but I will not get personal here either.

Also I looked and there are some affordable ones also.

The MLS website is www.MyFloridaHomesMLS.com and you can search there for rentals. Of course, there's also Craigslist and I think you can search for roommates there. Just use your common sense and watch for scams.

Right absolutely. I like having a phone chat and more before signing.

Cheap rents in Sarasota? More likely to find them in St Pete.

I suspected that although some listings in Sarasota I saw recently were cheaper than I'd remember them some time back. Of course probably not ON the beach but in the area anyhow without having to leave town. But you're right, I'd more than likely to have to live in St Pete or if in Sarasota area, Bradenton on the Sarasota line for it to be cheaper I would imagine. Or I could expand my search to Brandon even if I have to. Downtown Sarasota is probably untouchable, but judging by what I saw it seemed to be on par with St Pete downtown area but again, it could have been off to the side of Downtown Sarasota like closer to MLK.. who the hell knows. I can't lose no matter where I end up though I don't think.

If you don't mind living kind of close to Newtown, you could look in Gillespie Park or Bayou Oaks - both of these border Newtown, Gillespie to the south, Bayou to the north. They really aren't terrible but rents will be lower due to ghetto proximity.

Again, rents are not cheap unless you do a room-mate situation. I have friends currently looking for "cheap" rent i.e. studios/1 bedroom pats ~ it's harder than ever right now. I have lived downtown since 2007 & it's never been this slim for "cheap" rentals. It's snowed in six states already, I work on SK in weekly rentals on the beach & we are booked up solid for Jan-April already. I do have a friend looking for a room-mate in Bradenton so DM me if you're interested or want more information. It's a tough market here right now.
