Ok, so we now have furniture ordered and have sorted out homeowners insurance, the next thing on the list is to find a good Veterinary Surgery in Venice. We are dog owners and need a good vets for our furry friend, ideally one that is reasonably priced and also offers some sort of emergency cover. Any recommendations gratefully received.

I use Best Friends in Sarasota. It's not Venice...but it is in Palmer Ranch area...so at least on this side of Sarasota. The only emergency place I know of is on 41. I think across from the Palmer Ranch plaza

My daughter has used Brandt on 41 in Nokomis/Venice for several years for her cats--
don't go there but from what she says the care is not the same depending on the vet you see and their hours are not that convenient--
but several people in our neighborhood use them are post positive comments on local message site

I visited Brandt and met with one of the vet's who was really nice. However, they don't provide any out of hours or emergency service, we'd have to drive to Sarasota for any out of hours needs. Unless I can persuade my dog to only be ill/sick during office hours don't think Brandt's will work for us.

I've always been very happy with Brandt, and I don't think too many small-animal vets see their own after-hours emergencies anymore anyway.
