Thanks for the seasonal perspective.
I guess the regular working people who live there 365 don't clog up the roads.
It is the snow birds driving around during the winter season.

Yeah, wonder how all this traffic congestion will actually help to supposedly increase home values in this area, as other regulars to this forum have opined?

I live in Nokomis and in-season highway 41 is usually pretty congested when I drive to and from the Walmart in Osprey. In the past I had always shopped at Walmart in the daytime - however the last two times I've gone at night (like between 8PM to 10PM) - and I was amazed at how empty highway 41 was. Walmart wasn't busy either - I found a parking spot right near the door. I reckon most of the older folks don't like driving at night. Last night when I was driving to Walmart on 41 (going North) - there was a guy walking south on the shoulder of Highway 41. There's not really any street lights around there - so I was thinking that with all the 'bad drivers' in the area this guy was half-nuts for doing that. I read about pedestrians being struck in Sarasota/Manatee Counties all the time.

Not much you can do, every metro area grows (or most) in population and new development. It's either growth or recession, take your pick.

After 9 seasons in Naples, the Venice/Sarasota area traffic is cake by comparo...
We don't commute in daily, or drive on the few highly trafficked roads, but the 'worst'/most crowded areas of greater Sarasota are a shadow of greater Naples/Bonita/Ft Myers in my experience.

Tampa Town. I have been wondering what some of the plans were for the Lockwood Ridge and 53rd corners. Do you have sources for the items you listed where I can read more?

You add throngs of snowbirds on those roads with the regular working people who live there 365- well, you draw the conclusions regarding the effects on traffic.
