Does anyone have any great restaurant they would recommend in the Venice, Sarasota area? I come down there once or twice a year and have eaten at some fairly good places but not much that I would say is great. (Although I will say that the Broken Egg in Siesta Key is one of my fav. breakfast spots anywhere!!!). Just looking for some new ideas instead of hitting the same so-so places I do every year. And as for type of restaurant anything is good - seafood, bbq, american, italian, mexican, even good bars to hang out at... Thanks all!!!

Firstwatch south of the Westfield - Sarasota Square Mall is is great for breakfast, There are a few other Firstwatch's in the aea but this one in paticular has a nice outside patio to eat on. A dinner spot I'd also recommend is Waterfront in Sarasota and Waterfrontoo in Osprey (same personable owner), just north of route 681. I've lived and worked in Venice for 9 years now and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

In Sarasota, in St. Armands Circle, is Crab and Fin--Oh my God--the filet mignon is SOOOOOO GOOD!!! So tender and buttery--I don't know how they do it! We go at least twice every trip! And it's a lovely place to spend an evening! This is an expensive place, but so worth it!

There are a couple of Amish restaurants around Sarasota. I ate at Yoder's , the food is not fancy, but very very good. Here is a link...

I think you can go to callandeat.com/sarasota for coupons on some great places...also Marina Jacks has a fabulous bar/restaurant right on Sarasota Bay...there are so many places to go...Main street is full of great little spots!

The Bijou Cafe, expensive, but very good!

Sharkies is nice too, it's more towards Venice though. It's right on the bay and has a very beachy feel. They have entertainment on some nights, usually Jimmy Buffet style. I beleive they have an outdoor as well as indoor, but your best bet is the patio...Mmmm Grouper!

Best restaurant in Sarasota - Bangkok (Proctor & Swift) - you will find something you like.
Others - Sugar & Spice, Mi Pueblo, Ale House (Bee Ridge)
Cheeburger Cheeburger, Sweet Tomatoes, Gecko's (41 & Proctor)
There are little gems on Gateway & Superior (in Gulf Gate) like the Brewing Company, Rico's, and others. I think my favorite place for wings is Beef O'Brady's, but there's also Buffalo Wild Wings.
Remember - Publix has the best subs : )

Columbia is great, but try Crab and Fin, for the absolutely most delicious filet ever! So tender and buttery! We'll be there in 1 month--and my tastebuds can hardly wait!
