We are moving to Lakewood Ranch next month from the northeast. Being totally unfamiliar, I am looking for recommendations (or bad experiences) for local:

That's a tough one because everyone has different wants/expectations. My plan when we go is to use
Healthgrades > Find a Doctor | Doctor Reviews | Hospital Ratings as a starting point and then when I find what I think will fit/work for my
needs, I'll talk to them and see if they're accepting new patients and if I think it's a good match for
what my requirements are.

I would say Dr Hall or Rubino for a dentist.
Orthodontist, and I know this a far drive to Venice, but hands down Dr Erlich and Sallapudi. I was Dr Erlich's first patient in the early 80's and he has done braces on my older two girls and my youngest will be getting them on in a year or so. They come with my highest recommendation:

I know you didn't ask for a GYN but I would highly recommend Dr Cohen and Sullivan in Bee Ridge Rd. Dr Cohen delivered my oldest girl 22 years ago and she now sees him as her GYN.
Although I don't have any personal experience with the following Dr's I have friends who use all and like them a lot: Dr Weiss (male) in Sarasota, Dr Shamsey(male) (in Lakewood Ranch--he's been around for a while) and Dr Blanco (female)
Dr Mason for Adult Primary Care.

I live in Nokomis and am looking for a female GYN. Does anyone know of a gentle one who is up on the latest advances? I would never want a male dr. for a GYN.
