They are predicting a fantastic weather weekend -- sunny warm days, cool evenings and low humidity. Perfect weather for getting out and enjoying what's happening in and around the Bradenton - Sarasota - Venice area, such as:

FRIDAY

Lakewood Ranch's Music on Main event -- live music, family activities, 6 - 9 pm, free.

Live from Downtown Sarasota It's Friday Night -- live performances by locals at 3 sites: Palm Ave, Main St & First St, 6 - 9 pm, free.

Paws on the Catwalk Luncheon -- benefits the Humane Society of Sarasota. Fashion show, luncheon, auction, etc, starts at 10:30 am. Tickets $125/person. Paws on the Catwalk Luncheon | Humane Society Sarasota County

Gulf Gate First Friday -- various local Gulf Gate shops stay open 6 - 9 pm, special discounts, some serving free refreshments.

Gem, Jewelry & Bead Show -- at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 10 - 5 each day, admission $4/adult.

Siesta Key Sand Sculpture Contest -- open to everyone, takes place near the Pavillion, free, several cash prizes. 9 am - 1 pm.

Sarasota Fest, Celebration of Arts & Culture -- featuring area artistic kids, free admission, 9 am - 4 pm, downtown Sarasota at Five Points Park & Selby Library.

Corvettes on the Circle -- up to 200 classic Corvettes to fill St. Armands Circle for this free show, 10 am - 4 pm. Note: Awards are handed out at 3 pm & many owners start leaving after that.

Latino Festival -- this is a new event for downtown Sarasota. Music, food, arts & crafts, childrens carnival, dance performances. 12 - 10 pm, free admission. Main Street between Orange & Osprey.

Cinco de Mayo & Taste of Latin American Festival -- McKechnie Field in Bradenton, music, performances, food & fun. 11 am - 6 pm. Tickets $5/adult, 12 & under get in free. Gulf Coast Latin Chamber of Commerce - Home

Mint Juleps & Roses Derby Day Event -- Sarasota Manatee Association for Riding Therapy grounds at 4640 CR675 E in Bradenton, fundraiser, tickets $100/person.

Food and Wine on Pine -- Anna Maria Island's Pine Avenue, 11:30 am - 6:30 pm, $2/person. Food from 25 local restaurants, wine & craft beers, live music, Kentucky Derby tent with big screen TV.

Main Street Live -- downtown Bradenton, 5 pm - midnight, free admission. Live music, dancing, food & drink vendors.

Suncoast International Dragon Boat Festival -- at Nathan Benderson Park by University Town Center off of University Pkwy, 50 teams competing, proceeds help In the Pink, a non-profit that helps cancer survivors. Free admission, 8 am - 5 pm. Nathan Benderson Park Sarasota, FL

Derby Dance -- Sarasota Community Foundation on Fruitville Rd is hosting a derby dance with live music, appetizers, mint juleps and creative hat contest for both women and men. 8 - 10 pm, $15/person or $25/couple at the door.


SUNDAY

Selby Gardens Spring Music Series -- enjoy live music 1 - 3 pm in the gardens with regular admission. Upcoming Events

Great Mothers Day Race 5K Run/Walk -- at Siesta Key Beach Pavillion, 7 am - noon, must register ahead. www.active.com/sarasota-fl/running

Siesta Key Drum Circle -- each Sunday just before sunset on Siesta Key Beach, free.

In case anyone is interested, I will be dancing with one of my belly dancing classes at the Latino festival. We will be on the "main stage" at 6:00 p.m.
