A licensed Building or General contractor can do this; he'll have to sub the electrical to an electrical contractor. You don't want an electrician drilling through roof tile.

It's possible to vent it out the soffit under the overhang on some houses to avoid cutting a hole in the roof.

My house is almost 20yo and has not had any damage caused by venting it like that.

Any Licensed electrician can do this without getting a general contractor involved. That's why they have a License!

Also FLHfan that code is defined by the state. It was allowable in MA for a long time but no more.

Soffit venting is not allowed anymore.

It's done through the roof or wall, that's it. I mean if our doing it on your own with no inspectors involved u can do it through the soffit. My house has vent's through the soffit and have never had a problem.

Why not just vent it into the attic? I never understood why drill through the roof just to get poop smell out of a bathroom. It's not like anyone visits the attic!

I would submit that it's already 80% humid in your attic, you cant really do too much to make that worse! :-)

Yeah. Mold growing in the attic. That's the ticket.

I vent mine in the attic, but extend the flex pipe up close to the peak (ridge vent) so the moist air from showers goes right out the roof vent with no cutting of the roof needed.

We had one added to our master bath after buying our 70's built CB house and added light to shower--didn't have either
Used Care Electric out of Sarasota
They did lot of work for us after purchase--very happy with quality
Ours vented to soffit--close to eave in area of bathroom
When we remodel master bath likely will have to move location--maybe get larger and will vent thru tile roof
