We are in our 30's, have a child, and we are all miserable here in West Bradenton!

We drove around North Port, Pt.Charlotte, Venice, and Englewood and we were not impressed by those towns either. So now, I am looking further North , Ruskin, Lutz, Land o Lakes, Clearwater and Tampa.

I will tell you what I want and maybe someone here can make some recommendations.

1. 30 minute or less drive to the beach

2. Young Community

3. Good schools

4. Did I mention a young community????

Not to much to ask, but I am having a hard time finding it! Jobs are not a big concern since we own our own buisness.

Seems like you have golf, beaches, concerts and all kinds of things in Tampa. Beautiful weather (compared to rest of the US).

are you unhappy because of Bradenton's Gang Problem?

I am unhappy with the school system, and with the fact young people are few and far between.

I have been fortunate enough not to run into any gang's, but I don't hang out on that side of town either.

Have you considered Bradenton out East? By that I mean east of 75. Both Lakewood Ranch and Greyhawk Landing are younger vibrant communities with A rated schools. Lots of people & kids out and about. You would have a bit longer commute to the beach but you would have an even longer one from places like Lutz etc... Just a thought. Take a ride around and check it out.

I have checked out the area, I like it, but it's a little higher price range than we are looking to pay. We are renting for the moment until we find where we are comfortable.

Happiness tends to be more internal than it is external.
If you aren't happy in Bradenton, figure out what is making you unhappy, what you're looking for and what places offer that.

Usually, people who are unhappy about certain dynamics of Florida living (unvibrant culture, crappy schools, etc) are best off leaving and going someplace else. It's what we did.

You mentioned some places I have researched and with your info you seem to like similar things we do, check out Odessa, its very close to the towns you listed.
Clearwater is nice but for us we want to be a bit farther away from the bigger towns and closer to a small town like Odessa etc.
We havent made any final choices as of yet but we are in looking in that area ( Odessa ) heavily.
You also might want to check into Destin/FWB areas, we would be looking their but is does get into the 30-40's to much for us.
