I'm exploring my options for possible cash income cleaning houses in Florida. I successfully ran my own cleaning service for 3 years and know the gig well.
(I don't wear pearls, spike heals and an apron but I can guarantee you a spit spot clean house with a )

My cleaning services also included working with seniors, assisting with the shopping, organizing, cooking...

Does anyone know what the hourly cleaning rate is these days in Sarasota County area?
Do people get paid by the job or by the hour?

Any good resources for finding good clients?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Juney

I've normally been quoted by the job for cleaning. However, for assisting seniors with shopping, driving, etc. you'll have to figure it out. Probably best by the hour.

I have two ladies come in once a month to do a good cleaning and I pay them $100. It takes about 3 hours. We have a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house with kitchen, family room, living room, and office. We don't smoke and don't have any animals or children so it's just the mess that two adults can make. I do interim dusting, sinks/toilets, showers and swiffering the tile floor, but they come in and do a heavy duty clean.

I have contracted with 2 different people to do move out cleaning for our apartments. Both charged $20 per hour and they provided the cleaning supplies. I don't know about whether by the hour or by the job is more common. It may be that routine , repeat cleaning for client occupied housing is on a by the job basis. We prefer by the hour so we can get our places as clean as we are willing to pay for. If we did by the job for our units, one of us would be cheated. Either the by the job would not get it clean enough to suit me, or if it was clean enough to suit me, the cleaner would have done way more work than they counted on when they bid the job.

I think you will face a lot of competition here. Not trying to discourage you though. Jobs are scare here so lots of people go for self employment gigs in areas that do not require special training or credentials.

And many of the people who might want to use your type of service are seasonal--come in winter and go back in summer which means income drop for you...
you best bet might be to try for some light commercial/retail type cleaning--
more like a janitorial service...

For example--in my Texas sphere--the place I get my pedicures done wanted someone to come in once a week on Sunday or in the evenings after they closed to do more thorough cleaning of their space... that is not great time to work but for places that are closed Sat/Sun that might be option vs working at night...
